About the Sidamo language

Sidamo, also known as Sidaama, Sidaamu Afoo, Sidaminya or Sidámo ’Afó, is a language of Ethiopia.

It has over 3,000,000 users in the
Oromia region: southeast of Lake Awasa; Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ region: northeast of Lake Abaya.

Sidamo has no known dialects.It is taught in university as a major and used as a government working language. Taught in primary schools in grades 1–4 as the medium of instruction, in grades 5–10 as a subject. Sidamo is also available in Literature.
